The historic Italian company specialized in the production of cold cuts digitizes its manufacturing and logistics processes thanks to Eximia.
From inbound processes, to the evolved Work in Progress (WIP) to ensure quality control and monitor production progress, to downstream. Levoni has chosen Eximia and Gruppo Filippetti to digitalize its 3 plants: the Mec Carni slaughterhouse in Marcaria (MN) and the ham factories in San Daniele del Friuli (UD) and Lesignano de’ Bagni (PR).
Customer needs
- Improving the monitoring and control of processes from a Smart Factory perspective
- Automatically identify, thanks to RFID technology, the raw materials and semi-finished products that pass through each scale and in the various stages of the manufacturing process
- Integrate the information of material entry/exit and stationing in your management system
The approach
After analyzing the processes in each plant, together with Gruppo Filippetti’s experts we presented the client with a complete Industry 4.0 project including IIoT and ICT solutions.
For the RFID infrastructure, we applied to each scale a tag designed specifically for the client, suitable for metal surfaces and certified for the food world. The RFID tag contains a unique code and a user code (EPC) that is associated to the slingbar. We then placed RFID readers and sensors in the processing stations to detect the gondolas and their direction of transit.
The entire architecture is governed by Eximia’s eRAM software platform, which has been integrated with the customer’s management system for perfect alignment of production and business data.
